Dr. Ryan Pearce, PsyD, provides comprehensive evaluations and evidenced-based treatment modalities, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP), interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and applied behavioral analysis (ABA).
He has extensive experience treating those with anxiety-related disorders (e.g., OCD, social anxiety, phobias, panic), comorbid complex medical and psychiatric diagnoses (e.g., chronic pain, autoimmune diseases, diabetes), and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In his work with athletes, he teaches skills to manage life stressors and athletic demands, and enhance performance.
Dr. Pearce’s treatment approach is individualistic, comprehensive, and collaborative. It incorporates positive psychology, humanistic psychology, and behavioral therapies to assist the patient in gaining an understanding of how biological, social, and psychological factors influence their health. Through skill acquisition, integration, and maintenance, the patient can improve their quality of life and reach their treatment goals. These goals are achieved over time, with periods of progress and regression. Dr. Pearce educates patients to recognize and appreciate this process, and the milestones in their journey, enhancing the patient’s happiness and sense of progress.
Academic Background
Dr. Pearce received his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. He completed his APA-accredited predoctoral internship at the Oakland Kaiser Permanente departments of Psychiatry and Child & Family Mental Health. He specialized in crisis and consultation services, hospital-based acute care psychology services for children, adolescents, and adults, and ADHD evaluations for adults. After receiving his doctoral degree, Dr. Pearce continued pursuing a Health Psychology specialization and completed his APA-accredited postdoctoral residency training with a multidisciplinary team at the San Francisco Kaiser Permanente, Department of Pain Medicine, Chronic Pain Program. Dr. Pearce completed his Master’s in clinical psychology at Argosy University and his Bachelor’s degree in philosophy at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr. Ryan Pearce, PsyD, is a registered psychological Associate (PSB 94027273) under Dr. Allison Bicksler’s supervision.
